Boosheet De Oro
August 28, 2007EPCI and BDO have merged 2 months back, if Im not mistaken. I never thought I'd be inconvenienced by it knowing how dependable two banks are. When they were separate entities, Equitable worked best for the working middle class, and BDO - well, for the SM shoppers.
So brace yourself for these mind boggling conditions should you report a lost/stolen/captured ATM card:
RANSOM MONEY
Initially, you are required to go to the branch of account. Pay for the Php100 card replacement fee, which is either debited from your account or paid at the counter, they dont really care as long as you pay for it.
BLEED 'EM DRY
So there you were, ATM-less and 100peso-poorer; they felt the need to add insult to your injury. "BDO doesnt allow over-the-counter withdrawal for ATM - Payroll clients."
Process dictates it - you wait for your account to be re-activated and your card released. No worries, they'd keep your money safe.
TRANSFERRABLE ATM CARD, ANYONE?
You have two options for the ATM card release. You can wait 7 banking days for the new ATM card with the hologram and shit, or wait for 1 minute to get the pre-imposed ATM card. Of course, there's a catch. There has to be!
The pre-imposed cards are without your names; it reflects only the ATM card # and branch #. Of course it has the hologram on it, otherwise, you might mistake it for your prepaid LRT pass.
My SM advantage card has my name on it. You dont think maybe they can borrow that machine from the dept store? C'mon - just one little machine. (But Id take that 1 minute please - I dont wanna waste my time going back)
BANCO DE ANNIE
Pinning the cards was easy. But dont get overexcited, you cant get anything else done until the next day As they say, the cash will come out tomorrow.
ONLINE BANKING IS THE WAY TO GO circa 1999
Available 24/7, no need to chase ANY business hours - which is perfect for call center peeps like me. If telcos want us to subscribe to their services, they should make our bill payment system convenient for us, right? And yes online banking is (was) the answer. I pay my bills online and pay my rent thru wire transfer, so its imperative that I subscribe to BDO internet banking. And guess what - my account is not allowed for Internet Transactions. And even if it wasn't, I tried signing up for it - bad move. It was too much work (like signing up for a domain) and in the end, it didnt really work because I have to submit a form to the bank and wait like 3 days for approval. Hats off to Fastnet. You will always be remembered.
DO I GET PAID IN DOLLARS?
There's $3.00 fee for every withdrawal at any ExpressNet/MegaLink ATMs; $1.00 for every balance inquiry or unsuccessful withdrawal at Cirrus and Bancnet affliliated ATMs (ie Metrobank, PSBank, etc).
They find ways alright. How can they not? They got it all FROM us.
