You’d end up singing too
May 31, 2007
I have been singing Pocahontas' Colors of the Wind since I logged in at 3:57 this morning. I dont think its the last song syndrome case because the cab I took en-route to the office dint have the radio on.
Actually, I wasnt aware that I was repeatedly singing it. Mah girlfriends, Marlon and Heidi, looked at me and shook their heads in disagreement. So that's when I realized, an old Disney song may be bad for my career friendship with these peeps. So I googled the lyrics and quite instantly I have linked recent (not-so-political) events of my life with this part right here:
You think the only people who are people
Are the people who look and think like you
But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger
You'll learn things you never knew you never knew
I would like to think the song appealed to my subsconsciousness because the only lyrics I have in my mind is of the chorus ("have you ever heard a wolf cry in the blue corn moon") and I didnt know it has a profound part as such.
More than that, I must admit, I have been struggling to have my blue corn moon or maybe the sunsweet berries of the Earth - and I am proud to say - I am over the Crappy You sickness. It was hard and expensive (think of the wellness program I had to go under - home serviced full body massage, trip to salon, 2-lb carbonara, 2-lb shrimps, and lotsa will & grace dvds). It's really hard, you know.
So my friends, when you discover someone who contradicts his own statements, his own actions, his own philosophies even - there's only one thing for you to do. Run. Run away as fast and as far as you can. Because if you don't - chances are, you'd have Colors of the Wind as your morning song too.
"Many will call me an adventurer — and that I am, only one of a different sort: one of those who risks his skin to prove his platitudes". - Che Guevarra
